Iceland Express is the first low fare airline offering year-round daily scheduled flights between London/Keflavik and Copenhagen/Keflavik. Flights are twice a day to each destination in the summer but once a day during the winter period.
Iceland Express started operations on Feb. 27th 2003. In the first year of flying, the airline carried over 160.000 passengers with an average load factor of 75%.
Iceland Express' low fare strategy is similar to those of other low fare airlines. There are no length-of-stay restrictions, no Sunday rule, it's easy to book or change bookings on the Internet, one way or return booking and e-tickets. Iceland Express also operates call centers in Iceland and the UK.
Low operational costs allow the company to offer lower fares than previously available in scheduled flights to Iceland, while still returning a satisfactory profit margin.
Flight operations are handled for Iceland Express by Astraeus, a British flight operator. The company fleet consist of two Boeing-737's, equipped with 148 comfortable seats.
