Whatever your age or subject of interest Ammassalik is a paradise for an arctic holiday.
Choice of activities basically depends on you, and when you plan to go. Local and foreign tour operators offer you a wide range of opportunities.
You could be tempted to say that Ammassalik is not one but two completely different areas. Summer and Winter.
Summer days are long and warm with only a few hours of dusk. Steep miraculous mountains, green valleys and crystal clear lakes and fjords – making the area unrivalled as an arctic trekking and hiking destination.
Winter days are short. Only a few hours of daylight and the northern light flaming in the night sky. During winter the heavy snowfall reshapes the landscape completely covering waterfalls, lakes and boulders. In late winter/spring when the sun has gained power, the area - softened by the snow - appears as a sparkling and immaculate ski and dog sled destination.
