The guides attending this tour live full-time in Ittoqqortoormiit and work as professional musher. With local guides you will be safe, exploring the Greenlandic nature and wild life. The hunters do not only know the conditions, the weather, the country, and the dogs, they will also inform you about the culture, the hunting etc. 
You will be fully equipped with boots and sledge outfit. The guide will also provide you with warm tea, coffee, and a light lunch.

The trip:

We will meet at the tourist office in the morning. The guide will escort you to the sledge and while the sledge is being prepared, the dogs will be more and more anxious to start the journey. The trip may start a bit dramatically , since the dogs are very impatient in the mornings .
Off we go! The sledge is being pulled quickly over the frozen sea ice by a team of 10-12 dogs. We head for Kap Tobin in a good sledge trail. The village was once bigger than Ittoqqortoormiit (danish: Scoresbysund), but today it is deserted and the houses are only being used in spring time.
We follow the trail through the village and turn right through a huge passage between two cliffs, before we make a stop at the hot springs, which are the warmest in Greenland (about 62 degrees).

We continue out of the village, following the ice edge all the way to Kap Hope, the other village of Scoresbysund. Sledging along the ice edge is an extraordinary experience, and there is a good chance of spotting seals, looking curiously at us, and different kinds of sea birds. In Kap Hope, which is no longer inhabited, we will make a stopover to explore the town.

We then follow the track back towards Ittoqqortoormiit and pass by “Gule Fjeld” (“the yellow mountain”) and the “Walrusbay”.
